Find instead of filter: search every Plant 3D object in the project from a single box, then jump straight to the object in its drawing.
| Way | Where |
|---|---|
| Ribbon | Tab Add-ins, panel QuickFind |
| Ribbon | Tab Plant3D.de, panel Find |
| Keyboard | Ctrl + Shift + F |
| Command line | P3D_FIND – P3D_SUCHE does the same |
The search starts at the second character and runs again with every further one. It covers all
text properties of an object – tag, line number, description, manufacturer, model, class, and
suitable custom fields. Case does not matter, and a fragment is enough: P-10 finds
P-100, P-101 and P-104A.
The hit count sits at the right end of the search box. The Matched in column names the field a result was found through.
| Input | Effect |
|---|---|
| Arrow up / Arrow down | Selects a result without leaving the search box |
| Single click | Highlights the object in the open drawing |
| Double click | Opens the drawing and zooms to the object |
| F5 | Reads the project objects again |
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Zoom | How close the jump zooms, written the way ZOOM nX is.
1x fills the view with the object, 0.5x shows twice the area. |
| Scope | Current drawing, the whole project, or a single project part. The wording is the one the Data Manager uses. |
| Filter | The class tree of the project, one section per project part. A check applies to everything below it. Piping components, connectors and steel structure are hidden by default – otherwise the results for a line consist of dozens of pipe pieces with the valve lost among them. |
Out of the box Ctrl + F is not assigned: in AutoCAD that key toggles running object snap, and QuickFind does not overwrite it without being asked.
To use it, open the gear in the palette and tick Ctrl + F opens the search. QuickFind then writes the shortcut into its own customization file – where AutoCAD keeps every shortcut. Clearing the tick removes it again. Underneath, the palette always shows which shortcuts currently open the search.
For a shortcut other than Ctrl + F, the button Change in the CUI editor opens AutoCAD's customization: look under Keyboard Shortcuts for the macro Find in the customization group Plant3D.de.
QuickFind reads project data and changes nothing in it. The jump sets a selection and a view – neither is drawing content.
Not every record has an object in a drawing. Line groups, for instance, are logical groupings; QuickFind finds them but reports on the jump that there is no drawing object.
All fields of a result are shown by the AutoCAD Properties palette: clicking a row selects the object, and the palette follows.
